On April 14th, 2023, Apple made a new step towards a sustainable economy by setting a goal that by 2025, all of its products will use recycled cobalt batteries.
Additionally, 100% of the magnets in Apple devices are expected to use all recycled rare earth elements, and all Apple-designed circuit boards will also be made from similar materials. According to reports from 2022, over 25% of the total cobalt found in Apple products is recycled cobalt, and for rare earth elements, this number is 75%.
CEO Tim Cook further stated that Apple’s innovation goal is to create abundance in human life and help protect the planet from pollution. Apple is making great efforts to green its production, supply chain, and the entire life cycle of its products, aiming to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030.
